Tybee Island is a barrier island and small city near Savannah, Georgia. It’s known for its wide, sandy beaches, including South Beach, with a pier and pavilion. In the island’s north, Fort Screven has 19th-century concrete gun batteries and the Tybee Island Light Station and Museum. The still-functioning 18th-century lighthouse has been rebuilt many times. The museum, in Battery Garland, focuses on local history. ― Google
I first heard about “Tybee” as we refer to it, from my mother when I lived in Texas. She told me she found the cutes, quaintest little place for a quick getaway. At the time I was like “Sure Mom” and went along with my day. I was working for a major airline at the time, and my idea of traveling at the time always included a major plane ride. As fate would have it, we moved to Georgia several years later. Only two and a half hours drive from “Tybee”, as it happens, and so we made our first trip. Needless to say, Mom was right and now “Tybee” is a favorite spot for our family, we have even been known to spend major winter holidays there, right on the beach…. Santa better get his flip-flops to find us!
